Building for Smiles

Working with His House Children's Home

During the summer of 2020, I hosted an online fundraising campaign to raise $10,000 in monetary contributions and in-kind donations needed to create a multipurpose recreational room for the children and staff at His House Children's Home in Miami. The room includes a new TV and sound system, new flooring, paint, and ceiling. A small portion of the room was converted into a dance space to accommodate the children involved in Dancing for Smiles.

The foster children at His House have been impacted by COVID-19 in ways that we cannot imagine. In addition to the stresses of not having a stable home, they have been quarantined at His House since March and cannot leave. Unfortunately, some staff members and children have contracted the virus and some children have even run away from the campus.

MISSION: BUILDING FOR SMILES strives to alleviate some of the stress accompanied with the pandemic by creating this new recreational room for 150 children and staff at His House.
